2008 - 2009 RBHS Band Handbook

The 2008 - 2009 RBHS Band Handbook which explains the procedures and policies of the RBHS Band Department is available online. You can click here or visit the High School webpage and then click the Student Info webpage. Students and parents should be familiar with the RBHS Band's procedures and policies. If a parent has any question, they should contact Mr. Hayes.

A New Look for www.rb60.com
The Roanoke - Benson School District #60 Website (www.rb60.com) has been given a fresh new look. Thanks to Mrs. Hudson and the technology club, the new website will provide parents, students, teachers, and community members up to date information about the Roanoke - Benson School District.

Wear Your Cowboy Boots to School Day
No doubt that students in other high school bands, throughout the US, have fun, but how many can say that their band has had a "wear your cowboy boots to school day"? Thanks to ebay - Mr. Hayes was not only able to participate (wearing his first pair of cowboy boots), but was also able to dress just like an RBHS band member. (In case you can't tell, Mr. Hayes is on the right and the student is on the left!)

"Outstanding" ... "The best ever!"

The RBHS Concert Band and Concert Choir performed their annual Christmas Concert on Monday, December 5th. Audience members were treated to an outstanding performance by both performance groups. The concert band amazed everyone with the overture to "The Marriage of Figaro" by Mozart. This year, the concert choir brought back an old tradition of inviting the community to sing-a-long with the choir on Handel's "Hallelujah Chorus".

RBHS Band Honors Veterans

In a stirring and moving ceremony, local veterans were honored for their service to our gratefull nation. During the ceremony, local veterans proudly stood and saluted the US Flag as their service song was performed by the RBHS Band. After the ceremony, a 21 gun salute was rendered followed by echo taps. The 94 members of the Roanoke - Benson High School Marching Band captured 2nd place at Washington HS Marching Band Contest. Check out their performance schedule and plan on attending a performance.

Congratulations to the Roanoke-Benson HS Soccer Team!

On Monday, October 24th, the RBHS Soccer Team became sectional champions! Congratulations RB/E Soccer Team for a great season! Thanks Coach Pat Sell for your great leadership on and off the field! Go Rockets! Go Rockets! Go Rockets!

RBHS Music Department Has Successful Trip to Disney

The RBHS Music Department returned on Saturday, June 11th after a very successful six-day trip to Orlando, Florida. Both the RBHS Marching Band and Choir performed at Walt Disney's Epcot Center. The RBHS Choir performed on the Future World West Stage and the RBHS Marching Band was featured in the evening parade.

Loads of fun at Summer Band Camp

Two students from Roanoke - Benson Junior High School enjoyed an action-packed week at the Central Illinois Summer Band Camp at Bradley University. Not only did the students have daily rehearsals and lessons with local professional musicians. They were also treated to daily performances by members of the Peoria Symphony Orchestra. Fun was not in short supply thanks to "Mrs. Fun" who made sure all students and staff had non-stop fun for the entire week. Dr. David Vroman, Director of Bands at Bradley University, served as band director and camp director. Next year's camp will be June 19^th-23^rd.
