FAQ

What should I bring?

An open mind and a willingness to share and learn! Edcamps are all about you!

Feel free to bring a laptop, Chromebook, tablet, or good old paper notebook to take notes. Cellular reception can be spotty inside our building, but wi-fi will be available.

How much does registration cost?

Attendance at an edcamp is absolutely 100% free! Because each session is participant-driven, we only ask that you come ready to share your knowledge, experience, and input.

Will there be food?

Ah, the important question. We are working on providing a selection of breakfast items and snacks for attendees. Lunch will be on your own, but the building will remain open for lunch so attendees can continue to converse and collaborate. Our local food truck, Pico de Gallo, will be on site from 11am-1:30pm.

Will there be gluten-free or vegan food options?

Unfortunately it is too early to know what will be on the menu at this time. However, we will do our best to make sure there is something available for everyone.

Will there be CPDUs available?

Yes! You will receive four CPDU hours for attending our edcamp, and they will be certified by the Roanoke-Benson school district.

How can I help?

We’re glad you asked! We’re not even sure what all we need at this time, but the day of the event we will probably need someone on hand to help direct people, keep things organized and moving smoothly, and/or taking notes in sessions and keeping the conversations moving. If you’d like to volunteer, contact us at edcamp@rb60.com.

You can also help by spreading the word! Even if you can’t make it yourself, we’d love it if you told your friends, colleagues, and anyone in your network about our event. This is our first event, and the more voices we have available to share and collaborate, the better.

Can I come sell stuff at the event?

Edcamps are, by design, low-pressure environments. While we are looking for sponsorships and items for swag bags, handouts, or giveaways, we are not looking for salespeople to be present at the event. Sorry! We will, of course, be happy to spotlight sponsorships on this page and at the event.
