Parents of Incoming Kindergarten for the 2023-2024 School Year,
It’s that time of year for us to prepare for the incoming Kindergarten class of 2023-2024. There will be an informative parent meeting on May 1st at 6pm in the High School Commons. We will also be conducting required screenings on May 2nd at Sowers. Parents should call the school office at 923-6241 and schedule a 15-minute time slot for their child to be screened.
During the screening, you will be given a packet of information including kindergarten expectations, a school supply list, and other readiness activities. We are also asking you to bring in your child’s certified birth certificate to be copied for their student file. There will be a parent/family contact information form to be filled out as well.
Also, please mark your calendar for August 14th at 6:00 p.m. This is the date and time when Kindergarten Orientation will be conducted for parents. This meeting is for parents only (no students).

Illinois Physical, Dental, & Immunization Requirements for Kindergarten (2022-2023 School Year):
Physical exam by FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL (valid if completed within one year of the first day of school). ***The State requires parents to sign and date the health history section.
5 DtaP, 4 Polio, 2 MMR, 2 Chickenpox shots or documented history of disease, 1 lead screening (Benson, Minonk, Washburn zip codes MUST have blood test- finger stick is adequate). The doctor must address the diabetes and TB sections of the physical.
Vision exam by an optometrist by October 15, 2023.
Dental exam due by May 15, 2024.
Physical and eye exams are valid if completed within one year of the first day of school.
Dental exams are valid if within 18 months prior to May 15 (11/15/22 or after).

Physicals may only be done by an MD, DO, PA or NP, NOT A CHIROPRACTOR.
