On Monday, November 3, the students at Roanoke-Benson Junior High School volunteered in the communities of Roanoke and Benson. Twenty students volunteered at the nursing home in Roanoke where they baked cookies, played the piano, played card games, and helped vacuum. Other groups visited our local parks, churches, and neighborhoods to clean up leaves and help with yard work. It was great to see our neighbors and to be able to help them with some of the more difficult yard projects. This community service Day is probably my favorite day of the year. It's so important that we take care of our community and those who live within it. We hope to instill a sense of community and responsibility in our students. Thank you to everyone who donated to our fundraiser and to all of those who allowed our students to work in their yards. The students are already looking forward to next year's community service day!
