Congratulations to RBHS senior, Braden Clark, who was awarded the Daughters of the American Revolution Award today. He was selected based on dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism . He is pictured receiving his award from Karen Schaal of the DAR.

Over $30,000 was raised Saturday night at RBHS for the Feed Illinois program. Ali Gibbs of Gibbs Family Farms organized the a banquet and live auction. The RBHS Band & Choir performed for guests. Our FFA Club sold raffle tickets, assisted auctioneer, and helped with clean-up.

February 2, 2022 Roanoke-Benson Parents and Staff, The forecast for tonight and tomorrow morning will force us to close school again tomorrow, Thursday, February 3. Our administrators observed several online classrooms throughout the school district today. We continue to be impressed with the growth of our students and teachers' ability to learn and teach online. Although E-Learning will never replace in-person instruction, RB students were engaged in meaningful learning today. The hours of professional development for our staff and investment in technology such as Chromebooks and apps has led to valuable skills that our students will use throughout their lives. However, when we adopted E-Learning in 2020 we also committed to taking a balanced approach with its implementation. Therefore, we will have a traditional snowday tomorrow (no online instruction). February 1, 2022 Roanoke-Benson Parents & Staff, Due to the snowstorm, Roanoke-Benson will have an E-Learning Day on Wednesday, February 2. Students will attend classes virtually via Google Classroom. Sowers Elementary will follow the schedule below: 9:00-2:30-Virtual instruction with breaks and lunch from 12:00-12:30 RBJH & RBHS will follow the schedule below: 1st Period - 9:00 to 9:35 2nd Period - 9:35 to 10:10 3rd Period - 10:10 to 10:45 4th Period - 10:45 to 11:20 5th Period - 11:20 to 12:00 Lunch - 12:00 to 12:30 6th Period - 12:30 to 1:10 7th Period - 1:10 to 1:50 8th Period - 1:50 to 2:30 No decision has been made for Thursday at this time. As part of a journalism unit of study in Mr. Soper's English class, students welcomed Mark Barra of the Woodford County Journal into their classroom virtually. Utilizing our new Room Ready technology, Mr. Barra shared numerous aspects of his career and answered student questions about the media.

A big thank you to Mrs. Clark's student teacher, Ms. Harris, and her Delta Zeta sorority sisters at Eureka College for the clothing and personal hygiene items that they recently donated to RBJHS.

January 10, 2022 Dear Roanoke-Benson High School Parents, We are scheduled to host Fieldcrest in Boys Basketball Tuesday night. Due to the number of Fieldcrest staff members who have tested positive for COVID, they will be remote learning this week. Fieldcrest School District will continue interscholastic activities including boys basketball. Only Fieldcrest student-athletes who test negative for COVID will compete at Roanoke-Benson Tuesday evening. Please call us if you have any questions or concerns.

Our recognition ceremony for the 2020 Boys' Basketball Team has been rescheduled to Friday, January 7 versus Marquette. We will honor the 2020 team, cheerleaders and coaches immediately following the JV game. The JV game starts at 5:30 PM

The Henry High School boys basketball team entered into health and safety COVID protocols this morning. Therefore, tonight's game has been postponed. Once the game has been rescheduled, we will post the date on our website.

Tomorrow night's recognition of the 2020 Boys Basketball Team has been postponed due to at least one member of the 2020 team who has entered into health and safety COVID protocols today. The game versus Henry will be played as scheduled. We will update you with the rescheduled 2020 team recognition soon.

Roanoke-Benson CUSD 60 passed out Thanksgiving Day meals to several needy families this week. A big thank you to Roanoke Mennonite Church for providing the meals again this year.

As Thanksgiving approaches, Winter sports get going in full force. Winter Sports include Boys Swimming, Girls Basketball, and Boys Basketball. Complete schedules can be found on the www.rb60.com web site by clicking the menu and selecting sports schedules. Also schedules and scores will be updated via the RB60 app on your phone. Here are some highlights for this week. The Girls basketball program will be hosting Putnam County tonight at 6 PM. On Tuesday they will travel to Fieldcrest. The boys basketball program will be playing in the ElPaso-Gridley Thanksgiving Tournament this weekend. We will be celebrating the accomplishments of the 2020 team that made it to the state finals. Upon the conclusion of the JV game (JV games starts at 5:30PM) players and coaches from the 2020 team will be recognized. We hope that many members of the community who supported this team will be able to attend this celebration.

This morning's Veteran's Day ceremony has been moved to 1:00 at the Alumni Memorial.

November 6, 2021 Roanoke-Benson CUSD Parents, As enter the second week of November please see a few seasonal updates and reminders below: -In the event of a school closure due to snow and/or ice, we will communicate via the school district app instead of the Remind app. If a storm is forecasted early enough to send laptops home with all our students the night before a storm, we may conduct E-Learning days as we did last school year. -The cold weather often surprises many of us. Please remember to send the kids to school with hats, gloves, and boots when necessary. If you are in need of outdoor winter clothing, please contact me. We have churches and community organizations that often donate those items to children. As we have in the past, we will go outside for recess if the wind chill is above 10 degrees. We will also continue to maintain a lost and found at school. -With the upcoming cold and flu season please remember that sick students must be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school. -Our high school is conducting a Veterans’ Day ceremony at 8:30 am at the Alumni Memorial. The entire RB community is invited. Please see the program below: The RBHS band will play various military marches starting at 8:30 The RBHS band will play the national anthem “Pledge of Allegiance” The Band will provide a musical selection The Choir will provide a musical selection Members of the American Legion will conduct a twenty-one gun salute Members of the RBHS band will conduct taps The streets surrounding the Alumni Memorial will be closed during the ceremony -Thanksgiving vacation is November 24-26. -The RBHS and Sowers Christmas concerts will be held in the high school gym on December 7. The Sowers program will begin at 6:00 followed by the RBHS program at 7:45. -The RBJH Christmas Concert is scheduled on December 9 at 7:00 at the junior high. -Christmas vacation is December 20-January 3.
